Except they do do something….. They deflect the air up and over the rider, especially in a tuck. When you’re on the highway and the winds is getting at you, do you ever lay down on the tank and tuck your arms and legs up against it? They push the wind right over you. Sitting upright, yeah they don’t do much, but you can feel a difference if it’s not there. They’re not made to keep bugs and whatnot off you like a car, they just help with the aerodynamics
